A comforting, warm drink for slow mornings and cooler evenings
As the weather cools down, warm drinks naturally become part of everyday routines.
This mānuka honey, ginger, and citrus sipping broth is a simple alternative to overly sweet hot drinks, bringing together warmth, freshness, and gentle spice in one comforting cup.
Designed for colder mornings or evening wind-down rituals, it is an easy way to incorporate authentic New Zealand mānuka honey into winter routines without needing complicated ingredients or preparation.
Serves: 2
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Ingredients
2 cups water
1 thumb-sized piece of fresh ginger, sliced
Juice of 1 lemon
Juice of 1 orange
1–2 tablespoons Manuka Hunters mānuka honey
Optional additions:
Cinnamon stick
Fresh mint
Thin citrus slices for serving
Method
Add the water and sliced ginger to a saucepan and bring gently to a simmer.
Allow the ginger to infuse for around 8–10 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer the flavour.
Remove from heat and stir through the lemon juice and orange juice.
Allow the mixture to cool slightly before stirring in the mānuka honey.
Pour into mugs and garnish with citrus slices, mint, or cinnamon if desired.
Serve warm.
Why This Recipe Works
This drink is designed around simple seasonal habits.
The warmth of ginger pairs naturally with bright citrus flavours, while mānuka honey softens the acidity and adds depth without overpowering the drink.
Because it is light and easy to prepare, it works well as a morning ritual, afternoon reset, or evening drink during colder months.
Tip for Best Results
Add the mānuka honey after removing the saucepan from direct heat. This helps preserve its natural flavour and keeps it as a finishing ingredient rather than boiling it into the liquid.
